Working Together to Get to You Faster- DRAFT
ANNOUNCEMENT:
As Northern Colorado continues to grow, the number of emergency responses continues to increase. In July of this year, Wellington Fire crews responded to a record 116 calls for the month. This helps demonstrate the importance of collaborating with our partners from neighboring agencies. On Tuesday, September 15 Wellington Fire Protection District, Berthoud Fire Protection District,
Estes Valley Fire Protection District
Loveland Fire Rescue Authority
, and
Poudre Fire Authority
will upgrade to a new dispatching system allowing the five-agencies to begin closest unit dispatching. Closest unit dispatching allows 911 dispatchers to see all available emergency fire department vehicles based on GPS location, and will dispatch the nearest unit to an emergency, regardless of jurisdiction.

“This emergency response protocol further illustrates the exceptional collaboration among Larimer County fire, rescue and EMS agencies,” said Fire Chief Gary Green. The multi-agency project took over a year of countless long hours of hard work to complete. Officials with the five-fire agencies worked closely with representatives from Larimer County Emergency Telephone Authority (LETA-911), Estes Park Emergency Communications Center, Fort Collins 911, and Loveland Emergency Communications Center. This system allows us to continue ensuring fire and EMS personnel get to people who need help in a faster and more efficient manner.
